To enter Russia for any purpose, a foreign national must possess a bona fide visa issued by a Russian Embassy or Consulate and a valid passport.  A visa is a document issued on the basis of an invitation for entry into the Russian Federation. TIM Services, The Professional Immigration Agency assists in processing of invitations for Russian business visas.

Business visas are granted to individuals whose main objective for visiting Russia is to conduct business activities (usually short-term) for which work authorization is not required. Business visitors have to generally limit their activities to attending meetings, exhibitions, fairs, seminars as well as negotiating/signing contracts, consulting, etc.

There are several types of business visas available in Russia:

• Single entry visa valid up to 30 days
• Single entry visa valid up to 90 days
• Double entry visa valid up to 30 days
• Double entry visa valid up to 90 days
• Multiple entry visa valid up to 6 months
• Multiple entry visa valid up to 12 months.

PLEASE NOTE! Multiple entry visas can be granted if a foreign national has already been in Russia and can confirm it by providing his previous Russian visa.

As you know visa is issued on the basis of an invitation. Invitations can be issued in 2 forms:

• Letter of Invitation (LoI)
• Telex

Letter of Invitation (LOI)

LoI is a special document issued by the Federal Migration Department upon the request of accredited companies. In this case foreign national obtains LoI which is further presented to an official in Russian Embassy who stamps a visa.

Telex

Telex is issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs upon the request of accredited companies. Only international public organizations can be accredited in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In case of telex you do not receive any paper document, but get a special number and name of an inviting organization. This information can be directly passed to a visitor beforehand by phone or email. A foreign national transfers this information to an official in Russian Embassy who stamps a visa.

 PLEASE NOTE: We recommend telex for the following reasons:

1.    Efficiency (no more than 2-3 business days for single or double entry visas and 12 business days for multiple entry visas);

2.    No additional expenses for international delivery.

PROCESSING PROCEDURE

1. Obtain an invitation (LOI or telex). Our fees for invitations for Russian business visas can be found here. If you have an organization that is accredited for visa support, please see here to find out how TIM can assist you.
2. Collect the documents required by the Russian Consulate in your location. The documentation requirements and processing time for visa applications tend to vary between Russian Embassies and may change frequently. In addition to the required documents, you will also have to pay a consular fee for visa processing.
3. Obtain a Russian visa and enter Russia.

If you stay in Russia for more than 7 business days, you should undergo the immigration registration procedure. While staying in a hotel, it is the hotel's responsibility to complete the registration process. More information about immigration registration can be found here.

When using telex, you will receive a special number along with the name of the inviting organization as opposed to a paper document. This information can be given directly to a visitor beforehand by phone or email. The foreign national must then pass this information to an official in the Russian Embassy who in turn stamps a visa.
